ISSA Symposium 2026 – Write Up

From 11–13 May 2026, our community came together for one of the most intellectually engaging and timely gatherings in our organization’s history. This year’s event addressed the forces reshaping our industry head-on, from a compelling keynote on geopolitical risk and the US–China AI rivalry to a thought-provoking panel exploring a question none of us can ignore: are we on the brink of the next global financial crisis?

A session examined both the transformative potential, and the real risks, of Agentic AI and Quantum Computing, whilst a cybersecurity masterclass – from an ethical hacker – offered valuable insights into today’s threat landscape. Just as importantly, discussions challenged us to reflect on the evolving needs of our clients—the reason we dedicate so much effort to what we do every day – and the “Digital in Depth” panel questioned some of the industry’s most widely held assumptions.

On the second day, the attendees then had an opportunity to sit down in smaller groups and tackle some of the key issues facing our industry. The themes covered in these breakout sessions – and the outcomes the groups shared with the Symposium audience – provided the attendees with practical, forward-looking frameworks to take back to their organizations.

What makes the ISSA Symposium truly special is that it does not simply reflect the moment—it helps shape what comes next. Our Working Groups showcased meaningful progress across Accelerated Settlement, Digital Assets, AI, Financial Crime Compliance and more, highlighting the collective expertise, commitment and energy of our membership.

If this year’s symposium is any indication, our community is not just keeping pace with a rapidly changing world—we are helping to lead it. We look forward to welcoming you next year in Singapore for our first Asia Symposium before returning to Wolfsberg in 2028.
