Sustainability and Securities Services Working Group

Purpose

Sustainability, in financial services, involves integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into investment decisions and business strategies. The Sustainability and Securities Services Working Group (WG) will look to provide educational and informational tools to assist ISSA members better understand sustainability and ESG and its interconnectedness with, and impacts on, the Securities Services industry.

Scope

During 2025, the WG will focus on creating and distributing a Sustainability Survey in collaboration with The ValueExchange. The focus will be on the current state of sustainability within Securities Services with the objective of evaluating the level of integration across the industry and identifying key challenges, opportunities and expectations for future developments. From the survey results, the WG and The ValueExchange will create a report outlining the key findings from the survey, which will help shape the future WG’s focus and initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry needs and priorities.  

Key Deliverables

Key deliverables will include:

  • Design and distribution of a Sustainability Survey aimed at gathering insights across the Securities Services industry
  • Analysis of survey responses and production of a comprehensive report to summarize key trends, findings, challenges, and opportunities identified
  • Identify new areas of action for the Sustainability WG based on the survey findings

Key Outcomes

  • To ensure an understanding of the impact of, as well as challenges and opportunities for, Securities Services with regards to sustainability requirements
